IIT Gandhinagar Research Park is a hub for industry–academia collaboration, enabling innovation, advanced research, and real-world impact through access to cutting-edge infrastructure and expert knowledge. The IIT Gandhinagar campus site is adjacent to the Sabarmati River and a major part of it on the periphery is a ravine, which gradually erodes in every subsequent monsoon.
With most of the buildable land having exhausted in the development of the main campus, the brief was to identify and conserve the buildable land parcels to establish the Research Park within this ravenous area. Studies were carried out and slope stabilization techniques including vegetated slopes and gabions were employed to carve out buildable pockets. On these plots, research units were allocated by IIT to different industries to establish their research units.
